Joseph H. Haslag
Title: Associate professor of economics
Background: Haslag spent 12 years in the research department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. At that time, he also taught graduate and undergraduate courses in economics at Southern Methodist University. His research focuses on aspects of monetary economics and economic growth, in particular how the payment system affects an economy's growth rate. He is also interested in the causes of economic growth in the United States. Substantial evidence indicates that growth is highly variable across countries, and there is increasing evidence that growth rates are unevenly distributed across states. Economic development questions beg for a deeper understanding of these processes.
