Steve Jorgensen

Title: Dean of the College of Human Environmental Sciences

Background: As dean, Jorgensen's administrative responsibilities include both undergraduate and graduate programs in a unit that houses 61 faculty members, nearly 1,100 undergraduate students and 300 graduate students. Jorgensen's research interests have centered on marital structure and process; fertility regulation and family planning of high-risk groups; and adolescent sexuality, contraception and pregnancy. Before joining MU, he served as director and professor at the School of Human Environmental Sciences at the University of Arkansas and associate dean and professor at the College of Human Sciences at Texas Tech University. Jorgensen's scholarly accomplishments include more than 30 refereed publications in scholarly research journals and research monographs, more than 50 papers and presentations at international, national and regional research meetings, and two textbooks on marriage and the family.
