Bruce Walker
Title: Dean of the College of Business
Background: Bruce Walker has been dean as well as professor of marketing at the College of Business since 1990. Before coming to MU, he was on the faculty at Arizona State University for 16 years, where he was chair of the Department of Marketing for seven years. Focusing on franchising, marketing channels, and survey methods, Walker’s research has been published in various academic and trade journals, including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Retailing, California Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology and Journal of Marketing Research. He is the co-author of Marketing, a textbook that is used in many collegiate business schools around the world. In summer 2004, Walker served as coordinator for a group of 19 faculty members from five MU divisions that submitted a proposal to the Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City, resulting in a grant of $593,000 for research related to entrepreneurship. Walker is a member of the board of directors of Salton, Inc., and Boone County National Bank. He is also a director of the Missouri Innovation Center in Columbia. Previously, Walker served as vice president of the American Marketing Association’s Education Division and as president of the Western Marketing Educators Association.
